Private Investigator Rates and Cost and Private Investigator Questions (FAQ)

Private Investigator Cost, Rates, Fees, Quotes and Questions

In this global society, many people have private investigator questions, such as how much a private investigator costs, and for good reason. Private investigator fees and cost depends on the assignment.  Private investigator rates vary by geographical location. Investigator cost also varies by the type of case and the skill level of the investigator. Finally, the fees and cost of a private investigator depends on the amount of hours worked, the times of day worked, and time constraints such as rush cases. To accurately quote private investigator rates, and get answers to private investigator questions for your case and more, read below for more information, and then call us 7 days a week and we'll be happy to answer your questions about hiring a private investigator.

Since we frequently operate under the radar to help our clients, we would never jeopardize their cases by putting our photographs on the worldwide web.

How do I find out about private investigator cost and rates?

You can call us 7 days a week (or email us) and we'll be happy to tell you about the private investigator cost and rates for your case.

What are your private investigator rates and what type of retainer do you need?

Our private investigator rates vary according to the investigation, with length, scope and time constraints all a factor. In most cases, a retainer for services is required in advance.

When I assign an investigation, what am I charged for?

Like attorneys, our private investigator rates include our time, such as travel, research, investigation, and oral and written reporting time. Also, some investigative products are billed under a flat private investigator rate.

How do I pay you and do you accept credit cards?

In most instances, we do not take credit card payments by telephone, however we offer Paypal payment by Visa, Mastercharge, American Express and Discover cards, each for Paypal's 3% fee. We also accept payment by wire and courier delivery and standard mail.

What if I don't need a written contract?

All investigation work must to be authorized in writing before we will start an assignment, even if you've sent us a retainer, except for established business clients with whom we have an ongoing relationship.

Can I opt out of a formal written report?

Clients can opt out of a formal written report, however we still maintain detailed notes in those cases, and report by telephone and/or email. Clients are, of course, entitled to an oral or written report by law if the services and report are prepaid for.

Will you maintain my confidentiality?

We protect your confidentiality with a vengeance and also are bound by law to maintain it, unless you us give permission to do otherwise, or the law requires otherwise, as in subpoenaed information (which may be protected through attorney-investigator direction).

How do I know if what I want you to do is legal?

It is our job to know what is legal or not in private sector investigation. Also, while we keep up on changing laws and ethics concerns, we defer to appropriate legal experts in "gray" areas.

Do you guarantee results?

Given unknown variables inherent to investigation, no investigator can guarantee results. With accurate information supplied by you, and for cases worked at our recommendations, we guarantee the most advanced methods and the best results.

What percent of your work is for businesses versus individuals?

In general, we provide investigation for businesses and public entities more than 2/3 of the time, however we have a greater number of private clients. That said, we carry an equally full schedule of cases from business, public sector and private party clients, and their respective legal counsel.

Do you carry professional liability insurance?

We carry $1,000,000/$5,000,000 in liability and errors and omissions insurance, but have never needed to defend ourselves legally. We also carry subcontractor liability and all-important commercial and non-owned auto coverage.

Do you use subcontractors or do you do subcontract work?

We use our own specially trained investigators, as well as contract investigators with whom we have a ongoing associate agreement. We will sometimes use other subcontractors, with permission, in appropriate circumstances, such as reviewing and retrieving documents in outer areas. We have a hands-on policy and all of our investigators work at our direction. We do subcontract work at our normal prices with advance retainer.

Do you offer security guard or personal protection services?

Though related, private investigation and security guard services are also very different, and we defer to those specialists. We do assist internal security departments and other clients with their external and internal private investigation needs. We also help in some private matters, such as stalking concerns.

Do you perform criminal defense investigation?

In individual cases of criminal defense, we defer to those whose experience is in criminal justice, such as "public defender" investigators and/or former law enforcement. We do assist in cases of alleged corporate and employer misconduct and fraud, as well as some other sensitive matters for loyal individual clients.
